AL will be isolated from people

"Awami League wants to isolate Dhaka from Bangladesh through its Dhaka siege programme. Dhaka will not be isolated, rather they will become isolated from the common people," he told a protest rally at Muktangan in the city yesterday.

Bhuiyan again urged the opposition to sit for discussion on their demands to find a solution.

Criticising the opposition's Dhaka siege on June 11, he said despite making frantic efforts in the last four and a half years, Awami League could not unseat the government nor could they make parliament ineffective.

On recent agitation at Kansat, Shanir Akhra and labour unrest at Savar EPZ, he said the opposition did not cooperate with the government in resolving the problems as they thought that the government would be toppled through the agitation.

"We've faced the situation with patience...Owners and workers are now jointly making efforts for production," he told the rally.

Referring to AL opposition to budgetary measures, Bhuiyan said the government has withdrawn duties on essential items, but the opposition could not tolerate it.

Bhuiyan said his party and alliance will face the Awami League politically as they did in the past.

Organised by Dhaka City BNP, the rally was presided over by City BNP President and Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka.
