Army man sues CityCell chief financial officer

Police quoting from the FIR (first information report) filed on May 5 with Kafrul Police Station by Lance Corporal Mahbubur Rahman said a private car came towards Swadhinata Sarani from Old DOHS at around 8:00pm.

On duty military police Mahbubur Rahman, the complainant, signalled to stop the car as it had no sticker or pass. But the accused stopped the car in the middle of the road and asked for the reason for signalling to stop his car angrily.

Quoting FIR police said the accused also dragged Mahbub and attempted to pull him into the car prompting Corporal Salam to come to rescue him (Mahbub).

The complainant also mentioned that when Salam was rescuing him, the accused hit him with the car leaving him injured. Receiving message, personnel from other units came to the spot and took Haider to their unit. Salam was admitted to hospital in a critical condition.

Sub-Inspector Shahabuddin, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, said the army personnel handed over Faisal Haider to them on that day.

He said a day later Haider was produced before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's, Dhaka.

After hearing, the court, however, granted him bail, the IO said.

When contacted Faisal Haider at around 9:30pm told The Daily Star that he would give his version after an hour. When contacted again, he was not available.
