Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Alamgir Kabir came under attack by angry protesters at Kashiabari Bazar in Atrai upazila yesterday evening.

He, however, escaped unhurt by taking shelter in the local UNO office, police and witnesses said. His car was partially damaged in the attack.

But the protesters laid siege to the office, keeping Alamgir Kabir confined for three hours, sources said. Later, members of the army rescued him.

Alamgir Kabir, a former state minister of the immediate past BNP government, incurred the wrath of local people as he defected from BNP and joined the newly floated LDP.
