Leaders of Bangladesh Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra yesterday strongly protested the attack on the workers of Sinha Textiles Group by the security guards and ansars at Kanchpur in Narayanganj on Wednesday.

They also demanded immediate release of the arrested workers.

The workers came under attack as they have registered their protest against repression by the factory owners, the leaders said at a rally at Muktangan in the city.

The government as well as the owners have exposed their fascist character by carrying out the attack on the agitated workers, said Sahidulla Chowdhury, a leader of the Sramik karmachari Oikya Parishad (SKOP).

While the owners have been amassing a huge wealth by exploiting the workers, the workers cannot afford two square meals a day, said SKOP leader Ahsan Habib Lablu.

The leaders called on the government to find out the real culprits and give them exemplary punishment.

Trade Union Kendra leaders Idris Ali and Ruhul Amin also spoke.

Later, the leaders and activists took out a procession, which paraded through different city roads.
