Bangabandhu, arrested from his Dhanmondi residence in Dhaka on the night of March 25, 1971, was taken to the then West Pakistan and kept in prison.

As part of the programme, party flag was hoisted at Bangabandhu Bhaban and all party offices.

AL leaders and workers also placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum here at 7:00am.

Gopalganj district AL also placed wreaths at the graveyard of Bangabandhu at Tungipara.
