Bangladesh to attain faster dev, hopes Japanese envoy

The envoy told this to reporters after paying a farewell call on Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Sheikh Hasina at her Sudha Sadan residence in the city.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to create an enabling environment to attract more foreign investment in Bangladesh, he said.

Hasina, also the Awami League president, appreciated Japanese aid and assistance, which immensely contributed to socio-economic development, and hoped that the Japanese assistance for Bangladesh would continue.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, political secretary to the opposition leader, said Japan is a tested friend of Bangladesh and has been helping the country since its independence.

The ambassador assured that it would support Awami League's roadmap for development of the country.

Awami League leaders Obaidul Quader, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, former ambassador Ziauddin and Sajib Wazed Joy, son of Sheikh Hasina, were present at the meeting.
