Bangladesh to continue tradition of moderate country
He said traditionally Bangladesh is a moderate country and hoped that this tradition will continue in the future.
The outgoing High Commissioner made the observations when he made a farewell call on Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at the PM's office.
Khaleda thanked the envoy for Canadian assistance in increasing trade and duty-free access of Bangladeshi products to their markets.
The envoy lauded the PM's speech in the UN General Assembly where some "important points" were raised.
The diplomat of the North American country also appreciated the spread of women education under the PM's personal initiative as he himself saw the mark made in some villages.
He also praised a significant improvement in a number of sectors, including primary education, health, micro-finance and good governance.
Both the sides hoped that the existing good relations between the two countries would further strengthen in the days ahead.
The Canadian envoy thanked Khaleda for government's cooperation in the discharge of his duties.
Khaleda conveyed her best wishes to her Canadian counterpart through the high commissioner.
