Bill on nat'l accreditation board placed
A bill was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday proposing to form a national accreditation board, which would accredit laboratories, license issuing bodies and training institutions.
Industries Minister Motiur Rahman Nizami piloted the bill titled "Bangladesh Accreditation Act, 2006." Nizami said, "If the accreditation system introduces for different testing, assessment and quality certificates it will help ensure quality of products and services."
The bill proposed to form a 12-member national accreditation board that would work following guidelines of different internally standard bodies like the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and the International Electro Technical Commission (IEC).
