The ruling BNP have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the November 7 as the National Revolutionary and Solidarity Day marking the civil-military upsurge that led to release of the then army chief Ziaur Rahman on this day in 1975.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its front organisations at its secretary general's residence in the city yesterday. Party Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan presided.

As part of the day's programmes of the party, national flag will be hoisted atop the party's central office and other offices across the country.

A discussion meeting will be held at 3:00pm at Mahanagar Natya Mancha in the city.

BNP senior leaders, including Tarique Rahman, Mirza Abbas, Abdullah-Al-Noman, Selima Rahman, Barkat Ullah Bulu and Abdus Salam attended the meeting.
