BNP urges dissident candidates to withdraw nomination papers

BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan yesterday urged those, who had filed nomination papers without party ticket, to withdraw their nomination papers within January 3.

In a statement he said the BNP has a lot of competent candidates in each constituency and many of them filed nomination papers to contest the election.

But the party decided to nominate one candidate for a parliamentary seat after considering all the related matter and issued letter of confirmation to them who were selected as party nominee, he added.

Bhuiyan also urged them who did not get the letter of confirmation regarding their nomination to work together in favour of the four-party alliance nominee to ensure victory.

Khokan makes apologies
Former lawmaker Khairul Kabir Khokan yesterday in a statement made apologies and expressed regret to BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan.

He said he will withdraw his nomination paper.

Khokan also said he was not involved with untowards incidents that took placed in Narsingdi in last few days.

The supporters of Khokan brought out broom procession against Mannan Bhuiyan for filing nomination paper from Narsingdi-1.
