Body to probe Khulna power station fire incident
The fire, which started in the switchgear room of the sub-station at around 2:30am, damaged four circuit breaker panel boards and a transformer, plunging Khulna and some areas of Satkhira districts into darkness.
Many electrical goods were also gutted. Nine fire service vehicles from Khulna, Khalishpur and Daulatpur rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at 4.50am.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The probe committee, headed by Superintending Engineer of Western Zone Power Development Company Limited Subhash Chandra Basu, has been asked to submit its report by Sunday.
The other members of the committee are Executive Engineer Shariful Islam of Division-1, Executive Engineer (Distribution) Shyamol Ghose and Superintending Engineer Pradip Kumar Sarker.
The loss caused by the fire is yet to be estimated.
