'Bring masterminds of Kibria killing to book’

"We want the masterminds to be identified and brought to book. We will carry on staging peaceful demonstration on the streets as we have already realised that we would not receive justice through normal process," said Reza Kibria, son of Kibria, at the 'Blue for Peace' programme at Shantinagar in the city.

About 200 people took part in the silent demonstration from 4:30pm to 5:00pm demanding trial of the killers of Kibria and the perpetrators of grenade and bomb attacks across the country.

The incomplete investigation into Kibria murder case proves that the government is trying to protect the masterminds, Reza Kibria told reporters.

Referring to the arrest and airlifting of militant kingpin Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, Reza said, "Even a loathsome terrorist and killer like Siddique was airlifted to Dhaka and provided with best treatment while my father Shah AMS Kibria, a distinguished former diplomat and finance minister, was denied such facilities after he was fatally wounded in a grenade attack."

Members of the civil society and leaders and workers of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Mahila League, Krishak League, Jubo League, Olama League, Sonali Bank Employees Union, Amra Muktijoddhar Santan, Sonar Bangla Jubo Parishad and Bangabandhu Lalitakola Academy joined the demonstration.
