BRRI success in rice research lauded
Bangladesh achieved tremendous success in poverty alleviation through rice research, said Dr Robert S Zeigler, Director General (DG) of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) yesterday at a meeting while visiting Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) in Gazipur.
Lauding Bangladesh's success in rice research, he said the country is now almost self sufficient in rice production.
BRRI DG Dr M Mahiul Haque presided over the meeting where IRRI representative for Bangladesh Dr Noel P Magore, Director of Indonesian Centre for Food Crops Research and Development Dr Suyamto, IRRI Liaison scientist Dr M A Hamid Miah, Directors and Divisional Heads of BRRI were also present.
