BSF returns body of Bangladeshi

The Border Security Force (BSF) of India yesterday returned the body of Bangladeshi farmer Raju Mia after a flag meeting with Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on the Kantivita border under Baliadangi upazila here, official sources said.

The BDR at the meeting yesterday demanded an exemplary punishment to the BSF personnel responsible for the killing.

The BSF expressed sorrows at the sad incident and assured the BDR of not repeating such killing.

Later, Indian police handed over the body to an official of Baliadangi police of Bangladesh.

Commander of Paria Company headquarters Nayek Subedar Zakir Hossain led the BDR side and Commander of Satvita Company headquarters PNS Bain led the BSF side at the flag meeting.

Later, police handed over Raju's body to his relatives, the sources said.

Raju Mia, 18, son of Islam Uddin of frontier village Bangovita of the upazila, was killed by the BSF when he was irrigating his field on Sunday, BDR sources said.
