BSF starts erecting fence again along Birampur border
BDR put on alert
A tense situation has been prevailing at Birampur frontiers in Dianjpur as the Indian Boarder Security Force (BSF) started erecting a barbed-wire fence along the border on Tuesday noon in violation of the Indo-Bangla joint border guideline of 1975.
On the previous day, the BSF had mobilised a huge number of troops at Khiar-Durgapur bordering village, about 20 km west of Birampur upazila, sources said.
Receiving information, Colonel Nurul Alam of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) visited the spot and sent a protest letter to BSF. In response, BSF assured him that they would remove the fence.

Official sources said the BDR members have been put on alert to thwart such illegal act of erecting fences along the border.
When contacted, Khurshid Alam, company commander of Chowcha BOP camp, said BSF also tried to erect a fence in the bordering area of Birampur village on March 2, but the BDR prevented the move within two days.
