Cancellation of treaties in energy sector demanded
The National Committee on Oil-Gas Mineral Resources and Power-port Protection yesterday in a statement said all the agreements signed by Bangladesh in the oil-gas and coal sector have imposed new burdens on the economy of the country.
The statement, issued following the suspension of Tata's proposed US$3 billion investment, demanded cancellation of all treaties and agreements signed in the non-renewable energy sectors.
The statement, signed by organisation's Convenor Sheikh Mohammad Sahidullah and Member Secretary Anu Mohammad, remarked that the proposed Tata investment proposal would have been harmful, had it been signed.
