'CEC must resign for free, fair polls'

Speakers of the meeting also said the countrymen should be united again on the spirit of the liberation war in 1971 against militancy, fundamentalism and corruption.

The meeting was held at the Colonel Taher Auditorium in the city.

Expressing solidarity with Awami League led 14-party coalition's movements for reform in electoral laws and caretaker system of government, speakers said all progressive forces should be united and work together so that a pro-liberation government can be formed in the next general election.

Nagorik Andolon Central Leader Dr Kazi Faruque Ahmed presided over the meeting where its Co-ordinator Prof ASM Shamsul Arefin, Prof Abdul Ahad Chowdhury, women leader Shirin Akhtar and Journalist Sharier Kabir also attended.

Sammilita Nagorik Andolon will also hold a view exchange meeting with the representatives of Ramna, Sabujbag, Khilgaon, Motijheel, Tejgaon, Badda and Gulshan thanas at the auditorium of Colonel Taher at 4:00 pm today.
