Cirdap regional training begins

Emphasising pro-poor strategies in development programmes, he said poverty reduction, employment creation and social integration are at the core of rural development.

He was inaugurating the 12-day regional training programme on "Role of local government in delivery of services and poverty reduction" organised by Cirdap in its auditorium in the city.

Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Secretary M Rafiqul Islam, Cirdap Director General Dr Durga Paudyal and Director Dr B Sudhakar Rao spoke on the occasion.

A total of 16 participants from 12-member countries of Cirdap are taking part in the training.

Cirdap sources said the 12-day regional training programme is aimed at sharing knowledge of local government systems in members countries and innovative methods at cutting edge level of administration and focus on available best practices in various countries for poverty reduction and delivery of services.
