Coast Guard DG gets promotion
Commodore Sarwar Jahan Nizam, director general of Bangladesh Coast Guard, has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and reappointed as DG of Coast Guard on June 21, says a press release.
Admiral Nizam joined the then Pakistan Navy in 1970 as a cadet and was commissioned on June 1, 1973. He did his specialisation course in communication from the UK in 1980. He graduated from Staff College in Mirpur in 1986.
He also served as the Defence Adviser at Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 2000 to 2002. He was also the Commandant of Marine Fisheries Academy, Chittagong.
