Cobra venom worth Tk 12 cr seized in city
Major Ehteshamus Samad, second-in-command of Rab-4, confirmed the recovery and arrest.
The arrested were identified as Abdul Bari, Shahidul Islam and Billal Mia.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. "The Rab (Rapid Action Battalion) team, in guise of buyer of venom, contacted the smugglers few days ago," said an official of Rab.
"During the negotiation with the Rab in disguise, the smugglers demanded Tk 12 crore against the Cobra venom," the Rab official added preferring not to be quoted.
As per their demand, a team of Rab went to the house at Pisciculture Housing Society in Shyamoli at around 5:00pm and nabbed the smugglers with the venom containing in some packets.
"Made in France," it was engraved in the packets, said Rab officials preferring anonymity.
The Rab is preparing to lodge a case.
