Contribution of Begum Mujib recalled

Besides Awami League and its front organisations, including Jubo League, Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League, various socio-cultural bodies, placed wreaths at the deceased grave in city's Banani in the morning to mark the occasion.

Jubo League organised a discussion on the life and works of the illustrious lady Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, better known as Begum Mujib, at the Jatiya Press Club auditorium.

Recalling the contributions of Begum Mujib, the speakers said this distinguished lady had played a significant role during different movements, including the country's glorious Liberation War.

Begum Mujib along with Bangabandhu and most of their family members except Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana were brutally killed at the fateful night of August 15, 1975. The two sisters luckily escaped the gruesome assassination bids as they were abroad.

The speakers demanded immediate execution of the verdict of Bangabandhu murder case to show respect to the rule of law as well as for the sake of justice and fair play.

AL presidium members Zillur Rahman MP, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim MP, Editor of Bangladesh Observer Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Professor Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, JSD leader Moinuddin Khan Badal, Dr Mizanur Rahman and Mirza Azam MP addressed the discussion held with Jubo League Chairman Zahangir Kabir Nanok in the chair.
