Convicts threaten complainants

Fourteen convicted criminals, who were released from the jail following an order of the High Court (HC), have been threatening their complainants with dire consequences.

This was alleged by the complainants at a press conference at Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association office yesterday.

The complainants Rezaul Karim, Abdul Quaium, Sadequr Rahman and Raju Mia said the criminals and their relatives have also threatened them over telephone not to file any general diary (GD) in this regard.

Mazir Uddin, Kaes Uddin, Tazuddin, Abdul Jalil, Abdus Salam, Naoshed Ali, Waris Ali, Noman Uddin, Tozammal Ali, Masum Uddin, Musleh Uddin, Aftab Ali, Fauque Uddin and Jamal Uddin were convicted and sent to jail in the murder case of Kotai Mia, Dulu Mia, Saokat Ali, and Nannu Mia of Golapganj at Mirganj bazar in Sylhet on February 4, 1992.

A division bench of the High Court issued the release order of the convicts recently.
