CU teachers vow to continue strike
However, all scheduled examinations of the university will remain out of the purview of the work abstention enforced from October 19, said a statement of the forum.
Helal Uddin Nizami, coordinator of the Shikkhak Samaj, protested the Chittagong University Teachers' Association (Cuta) statement published in different newspapers that termed the on-going work abstention as "illegal".
He said as the Cuta failed to protect the rights of the teachers, they were compelled to go for agitation.
Helal said earlier on September 17 they submitted a memorandum to Vice-chancellor Prof AJM Nuruddin Chowdhury and began a two-day work abstention on September 27.
But it was postponed on the following day when the Cuta assured them of discussing the matter with the authorities for taking necessary measures, he said.
The authorities took some decisions in its syndicate meeting on October 18, which were rather contrary to the agreement that Cuta made with the VC earlier, the statement added.
