DCC reception to Yunus Nov 4

Now the reception would take place on November 4 at the South Plaza of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 3:00pm, a DCC press release said yesterday.

'We talked with the people concerned and changed the schedule,' DCC Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka yesterday told The Daily Star over phone.

Meanwhile, the Nobel Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank Reception Committee, who earlier declared to give another national reception to the Nobel laureate and Grameen Bank on November 4, also rescheduled its date.

'We would accord the reception the day Prof Yunus returns home after receiving his Peace Prize,' said Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, one of the four co-conveners of the preparatory committee.

Former chief of caretaker government Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman is the chairman of the committee.

Prof Yunus is scheduled to receive his Nobel Prize in Norway on December 10.

Meanwhile, Forum for Secular Bangladesh and several other organisations earlier condemned DCC for fixing the date on November 3 which is observed as the Jail Killing Day.
