Demand for arrest of culprits reiterated
Teachers and Students of Geology and Mining Department of Rajshahi University (RU) took out a silent procession and held a rally on the campus yesterday demanding arrest of and punishment to the killers of Prof S Taher Ahmed and Prof Muhammad Yunus.
Prof Kamrul Majumder of the department led the procession.
Several hundred teachers, students and officials joined the procession, carrying placards and banners.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), students wing of opposition Awami League, also took out a procession and held a rally in front of the Central Library.
Speakers at the rally said Jamaat-Shibir leaders are trying to protect Prof Taher's alleged killer Mahbub Alam Salehi, RU Shibir president.
They threatened tougher agitation if Salehi is not arrested and punished.
