Demolition of illegal structures along riverbanks demanded

They also urged the government to implement the 'wetland law 2000' and form a task force to launch drive against illegal encroachments along the riversides.

Bangladseh Paribesh Andolon (Bapa) organised the rally and formed a human chain in front of National Museum in the city yesterday.

They criticised the authorities for not taking immediate actions to stop construction of illegal structures.

Bapa Vice President ANM Wahed presided over the rally while its General Secretary Mohidul Haque Khan and Joint Secretary Mihir Bishwas, Alamgir Kabir of Green Voice, Sharifuzzaman of Nagorik Sanghoti, Dr Abdul Hi Mojumdar of Peace spoke.
