Drive in garments units from July 16
The Ministry of Home Affairs formed 12 teams in this regard.
Brigadier General Rafiqur Rahman, director general of Fire Service and Civil Defence, yesterday asked the officials concerned to complete the preparation and start the visit.

The representatives from Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) were present at the briefing.
The meeting was told that there were huge losses of property due to some big fire incidents in the garments factories in the recent time. The major causes of those incidents were non- compliance of government's fire fighting and extinguishing law 2003. Besides, disasters in many family lives, such fire incidents also tarnished image of the country , the meeting observed.
The meeting sought co-operation from garments industries and other stakeholders during the drives.
