DU launches library automation programme
Dhaka University (DU) yesterday launched its library automation programme in a bid to modernise book exchange system for teachers, students and researchers.
DU Vice-chancellor Prof SMA Faiz inaugurated the automation programme at the Central Library in the morning.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Prof Faiz said in the world of technology, the automation programme for country's largest library was a demand of the time to make it modern and at per with international level.

To introduce the automation programme, barcode level has been transplanted to a total of 1,05,700 books to date, said Khandaker Fazlur Rahman, acting librarian (planning and development) and member-secretary of the library automation programme executive committee.
Authorities are now providing borrowers' ID card to the teachers, students and researchers. More than 400 borrowers' ID cards have been distributed to date.
