DU observes World Population Day

This year the theme of the day was 'Young People'.

The day began with a rally in the morning, organised by the Department of Population Sciences in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Dean of Social Science Faculty Prof Harun-or-Rashid, Chairman of Department of Population Sciences Tehmina Ghafur, Prof AKM Nurun Nabi, some other teachers and students of various departments and institutes took part in the rally led by Vice Chancellor Prof SMA Faiz.

An open discussion titled 'Young population in Bangladesh: not only the future but also the present' was also held at RC Majumdar auditorium in the afternoon with Tehmina Ghafur in the chair.

Prof SMA Faiz, Prof Harun-or-Rashid and Pornchai Suchitta, Bangladesh Country Representative for UNFPA, took part in the discussion.
