DU Rover Scouts celebrates 40th anniversary
The scouting movement in the country, since its beginning, has helped inculcate righteous and democratic leadership qualities in the youths, they said.
The scouting also helps the youths become self-reliant and make them competent to face the challenges of the 21st century, the speakers added.

Speaking as the chief guest, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof AFM Yusuf Haider said the Rover Scouts have always come forward to serve the nation at the time of need.
Referring to 1998 floods, he said DU Rover Scout Group had extended their helping hands by making breads and oral saline and distributing those among the flood-affected people.
They also help the DU authorities in arranging Amar Ekushey programmes and holding its admission programme every year, he added.
Editor of The Daily Star Mahfuz Anam attended the function as special guest.
Dean of social science faculty Prof Harun-ur-Rashid, Member of University Grants Commission Prof KM Mohsin, Chief Rover Scout Leader Prof Md Ramjul Haque and Convenor of the 40th anniversary programme and Deputy Secretary Md Rafiqul Islam Khan also spoke.
At the function, Prof KM Mohsin, Prof Md Ramjul Haque and Md Rafiqul Islam Khan were awarded Sonali Nakshatra (Golden Star) Award in recognition of their outstanding contribution to scouting.
Earlier, Prof AFM Yusuf Haider inaugurated the daylong programmes of the Rover Scouts.
The programmes included voluntary blood donation, reminiscence session, cultural show and raffle draw.
