Eight shops gutted, 20 injured in Patuakhali fire
A devastating fire ripped through the Power House market in the town on Thursday night, destroying eight shops and injuring at least 20 people, including five fire fighters.
Fire Brigade sources said the fire started at a petrol shop, owned by Abul Mia, at about 11:45 pm and soon engulfed nearby shops following the explosion of petrol drums.
The fire fighters with the help of local people extinguished the blaze after two hours of frantic efforts.

Three of the injured -- Abu Mia, Saidur and Mohammad Mamun -- were sent to a hospital in Barisal in critical condition while 11 others to Patuakhali General Hospital.
