'Electoral reform issues can be settled thru' dialogue'

"As we have constitutional obligation to hold national election within 90 days after any government completes its tenure, election will be held in time," he said and hoped that the Awami League will take part in the upcoming election.

Progatishil Chetona Sangsad organised the roundtable titled 'Proposal for caretaker government reform and some thoughts on national election' at the National Press Club auditorium.

The minister said the AL wants to dictate who should be on the committee of the four-party alliance for the proposed dialogue on electoral reforms. Such attitude clearly indicates that the party has no commitment to democracy, he added.

Nurul Islam Moni MP, Mostofa Kamal Majumdar, editor of The New Nation, Gaziul Hasan Khan, managing director of BSS, Mir Kashem Ali, Abdul Kader Molla, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Sadek Khan and Gias Kamal Chowdhury also spoke.

Barrister Abdur Razzak moderated the roundtable while Hannan Shah presided.
