'Enact law to curb noise pollution'

They urged the government to take this issue into active consideration and suggested that the draft regulation that was done by the Ministry of Environment and Forests in April, 2004 should be given a final shape towards that end.

"The government should take a decision at least before the World Noise Consciousness Day on April 25 to save the people from this kind of hazard," they said at a sit-in programme at the Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University. Convenor of the Paribesh Bachao Andolon Abu Naser Khan was in the chair.

Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust project manager Amit Ranjan Dey, Peace secretary general Ifma Hossain, Bishwa Shanti Sangha advisor Advocate Abul Kalam Azad, Dhaka Jagorani advisor Mohammad Nazim Uddin and Gorki Welfare Foundation chairman Dr Jesmin Ara addressed the function.
