Anwar said 55 percent lands of the country have so far been brought under irrigation and a strategy will be formulated to bring rest of the lands under irrigation.
The minister said a system will have to be evolved to stop misuse of water by introducing a modern irrigation system to ensure increased crop production.
The meeting was informed that Tk 1,100 crore has been allocated for implementation of 82 development projects under the ministry during the current fiscal. He said 41 percent of the allocated money has already been spent for implementing the projects.
Anwar said the production and distribution system of seeds have to be further developed.
