Expat robbed of cash, gold worth Tk 3.5 lakh
A gang of criminals known as 'Agyan party' robbed a Bangladeshi expatriate of cash and gold worth about Tk 3.5 lakh in the city yesterday just after he arrived from Saudi Arabia.
Ziaul Huq Zia, 28, flew into Zia International Airport yesterday afternoon.
As he was waiting outside the airport for transport, a man approached him to know about his destination. When Zia told him that he would go to Sonagazi in Feni, the man also said that he would also go to the same place and proposed that they go together in a microbus.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. They jointly hired a microbus. But on the way, the man made Zia unconscious by some means, looted his valuables and left him on the roadside at Sayedabad.
Local people rushed Zia to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. He regained consciousness after treatment.
