Fertiliser stock, import reviewed
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Agriculture at a meeting yesterday reviewed the import, distribution, stock and production of fertilisers, including urea, and the process of appointment of fertiliser dealers.
The 36th meeting was held at the Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Abdul Mannan in the chair, an official handout said.
The meeting discussed the transfer of sub-assistant agriculture officers and also reviewed the progress of implementation of earlier decisions.

Besides, 10 lakh MT fertiliser will be imported in the current financial year (2006-07). The production target of six urea fertiliser factories under the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) has been fixed at 18 lakh tons in 2006-07.
