Film festival begins at JU today

JU Vice-chancellor Prof Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman will inaugurate the festival as chief guest at a colorful ceremony at the central auditorium at 5:30pm.

Morshedul Islam, president of Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies (BFFS) and a prominent filmmaker, will attend the function as special guest.

Prof Ahmad Reza, president of JSFS, will preside over the inaugural ceremony where Agami (Bangladesh) and The Return (Russia) will be screened.

A total of 20 films from 17 countries will be screened.

Three films will be screened daily at the central auditorium at 3:30pm, 5:30pm and 7:30pm from March 13 to 18.

Shakha Proshakha (India), One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (USA) and Baran (Iran) will be screened tomorrow.

Sky Business Services Limited (SBSL) has sponsored the programme while Proshika Manobik Unnayan Kendra will provide technical assistance for the festival titled 'SBSL 1st International Film Week-2006.’
