Fire Service drive from April 1
Fire Service and Civil Defence Department will launch a special drive from April 1 to take action against those who did not take licence from the department for using a building or land as warehouse, factory or shop for combustible substances.
The department took the decision of launching the drive following the recent fire incidents in garments factories and buildings that caused huge loss to lives and properties.
The department warned that if anyone or establishment is found guilty of violating the Fire Prevention and Extinction Act-2003 during the mobile court drive would be brought to book.

Keeping combustible substances sans licence is a punishable offence that provides minimum imprisonment for three years and the offence under violation of the terms of licence provides minimum imprisonment for six months. In both the cases, additional pecuniary punishment may also be awarded, says a press release.
