First meeting of 6th Wage Board held

The meeting discussed the fixing of dearness allowance in the context of inflation and price spiral after the declaration of the 5th Wage Board award eight years ago.

Presided over by board Chairman Justice Mohammad Fazlul Huq, the meeting was attended by Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Gaziul Hasan Khan, journalist Habibur Rahman Milon, Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Ruhul Amin Gazi, President of Bangladesh Newspaper Employees' Federation Motiur Rahman Talukder, President of Bangladesh Newspaper Press Workers' Federation Fazle Imam and Secretary General Mohammad Abul Hashem and Wage Board Secretary Sharke Chaman Khan.

Board Chairman Justice Huq sought cooperation from all concerned to fix a realistic new wage structure for journalists, employees and workers in the newspaper industry.

The meeting was adjourned to meet again on September 28.
