First return Hajj flight with 387 Hajis arrives
Biman carried more than 42,000 Bangladeshi pilgrims to perform the holy Hajj this year. The last post-Hajj flight of the carrier will arrive on February 14.
The State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir accompanied by Biman's managing director and high officials received the Hajis at the airport.
The post-Hajj operation will continue from January 14 to February 14. Flights will be made with two leased aircraft of Boeing 747 and Airbus A-330 apart from its own DC 10-30. A total of three flights will be operated daily to conclude the mission.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines, like the previous years, embarked upon a programme of Hajj Operation-2006 for ferrying some 42,000 pilgrims to and from Jeddah. The first phase of it began on December 11 last year and was completed on January 6.
A total of 2614 people performed the holy Hajj as ballottee while the rest as non-ballottee. Some 42,000 pilgrims travelled on Biman while about 10,000 availed flights of other airlines.
