"There is no need of advice from EU troika team as our Election Commission and other agencies are competent enough to hold free and fair election," he added.

Saifur was addressing a rally organised by Sylhet district and city units of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student wing of the ruling party, at the city point yesterday.

Pointing at the main opposition Awami League, the finance

minister said, a party had been hindering the ongoing process of development.

He said wide bodied aircraft would start landing in Sylhet directly from London and other places in February.

State Minister for Labour and Manpower Aman Ullah Aman, Jatiya Sangsad Whip Fazlul Haque Aspia, Privatisation Commission Chairman Enam Ahmed Chowdhury and Sylhet City BNP President Ariful Haque Chowdhury also addressed the rally.

District JCD President Emran Ahmed Chowdhury and city unit chief Nurul Alam Siddiqui Khaled were also present.
