'Form independent probe body to find out patrons of militants'

The capture of militant kingpins Shaekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai is nothing but a 'drama' the government has staged only to divert people's attention from the current agitation against it, the party leaders said at a meeting at the Samyabadi Dal office.

The government is now trying to save the ministers, MPs, administrative officials who patronised the militants, they alleged.

The leaders also reiterated their stand that there will be no election in the country unless reforms are brought to the caretaker government system and the Election Commission (EC).

They urged the countrymen to make today's programme to lay siege to the EC a success.

Workers' Party President Rashed Khan Menon presided over the meeting addressed by coordinator of 11 Party Dilip Barua, Bimal Biswas, Saifuddin Ahmed Manik, Nurul Islam, Abdus Samad and Zakir Hossain.
