Four killed in road accidents

Our Correspondent from Cox's Bazar says: One person was killed in a road accident at Ramu upazila in Cox's Bazar yesterday.

The dead was identified as Ramzan Ali, 31, son of Amir Hossain of Rashed Nagar in Ramu upazila.

Police and witnesses said a motorbike hit him at Ramu at around 3:00pm when he was going to home.

He was rushed to Cox's Bazar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Our correspondent from Manikganj reports: A fish trader was killed in a road accident at Pukhuria bus stand under Ghior upazila in Manikganj on Dhaka-Aricha highway yesterday.

The victim was identified as Foni Rajbangshi, 55, of Pukhuria village under Ghior Police Station in Manikganj.

Police said the accident occurred at around 3:00pm as a BRTC bus from Dhaka hit Foni while he was crossing the road leaving him dead on the spot.

Local people damaged two BRTC buses and put up barricade on the road disrupting vehicular movement for one hour following the accident.

Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

UNB from Chapainawabganj adds: A sexagenarian was killed and his son critically injured in a road accident at Chhatrajitpur village in Shibganj upazila yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Yunus Ali, 60, of Kasnsat Bahalbari village in the upazila.

Witnesses said the accident occurred when a passenger bus hit a motorcycle of Yunus at about 8:00am while he along with his son Mannan, 30, was going to the district town, leaving him dead on the spot.

Seriously injured Mannan was rushed to the Shibganj Health Complex.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and 15 others were injured in separate road accidents in Sirajganj yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Sarwar Hossain, 32, of Paikosha village at sadar upazila.

Police and witnesses said a Rajshahi-bound private car from Dhaka crushed a passer-by from behind at the Balukole point at Jamuna Bridge west link road.

Police recovered the body and sent to the morgue for autopsy.

At least 15 people were injured when a Sirajganj-bound mango-laden truck skidded off the Sirajganj-Bonpara highway and fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over steering.

Of the injured, four were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition and six admitted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
