Four killed in separate incidents in Ctg

Sources said one person was killed and two others injured when a bus knocked a motorbike from behind on Karnaphuli Shah Amanat Bridge under Karnaphuli Police Station at around 9:30am.

The deceased identified as Sujit Baran Paul, 37, son of Basu Dev Paul of Satbaria under Chandanaish, along with other two, was going to attend a marriage ceremony in Patiya, sources said.

Sujit was working in a non-government organisation named IDF at its Rangunia office.

He died on way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

In another incident, Md Jibon Mia, 30, was electrocuted while repairing an electric wire at a shop at Agrabad Mazar Gate area adjoining to Badamtali intersection under Double Mooring PS at around 11:30am.

Jibon was rushed to the CMCH immediately where the doctors declared him dead.

Meantime, a minor boy drowned while taking bath in a pond at Juladha village under the city's Karnaphuli Police Station on the bank of Karnaphuli River at around 2:30pm.

The boy identified as Imon, 7, was the son of Abdus Sabur of the village.

In the other incident, a youth identified as Shamsur Rahman, 18, reportedly committed suicide taking poison after a quarrel with his sister-in-law in the city.

Shamsur, son of Abdul Matin of the city's Bakolia Masterpool area, was rushed to CMCH where the doctors declared him dead at around 2:30pm.

Meanwhile, three street boys were injured, two of them critically, in a bomb blast at the city's Omar Shahpara area under the city's Bander PS at around 9:00am.

The victims identified as Md Mohiuddin alias Monir, 15, son of Mosharraf Hossain, Md Al Amin, 12, son of Md Mithu Mia and Bappi, 10, were living at a slum known as Rail Bosti at Loharpool area.

According to the sources, the three boys during collecting waste papers picked up six tin-pots wrapped in red tapes from abandoned condition beside a rail truck in the morning.

As Mohiuddin tried to open one of the tin-pots, which later proved to be live cocktails, hitting on the rail bit, it exploded blowing off his right wrist and leaving two others injured.

They were rushed to CMCH at around 9:30am. Of them, Bappi was released after primary treatment while Mohiuddin and Al Amin were undergoing treatment in the hospital.
