Free dental check up on June 30

In a bid to increase oral health care awareness among general people, Unilever Bangladesh and Bangladesh Dental Society (BDS) will jointly organise a 'Pepsodent-Bangladesh Dental Society Oral Health Day 2006' on June 30.

On the day, which is happening for the first time in the country, free dental check ups will be provided to registered patients at 220 clinics in 64 district towns across the country simultaneously.

Unilever Bangladesh and BDS disclosed the day at a press conference at Spectra Convention Centre in Gulshan in the city yesterday.

Authorities said patients have to register through a call centre. Interested patients are requested to call to 01199 176617 from June 20 to 24 between 7:00am to 11:00pm.

Call centre operator will inform every registered patient about his/her respective clinic and time.

250 members of BDS will volunteer their services to about 12,000 patients in a single day, Unilever and BDS authorities expected.

Unilever Bangladesh Limited has been working closely with BDS for the last twelve years in promoting oral health and hygiene primarily among the growing children and young adults to develop good dental care habits.

Authorities said the 'Pepsodent-Bangladesh Dental Society Oral Health Day 2006' is a part of global initiative called "Live. Learn. Laugh.", jointly initiated by Unilever and World Dental Federation, which aimed to increase oral health promotions and education in the developing nations.

Unilever Bangladesh chairman Sanjiv Mehta, Brands and Development Director Naushad Chowdhury, Senior Brand Manager for Pepsodent Shahed Mustafa Mujahid, BDS President Prof Md Ashraf Hussain and General Secretary Niaz Ahamed Chowdhury were present at the press conference.
