Apart from Russia's investment in age-old power sector in Bangladesh, formal

bilateral trade remains very insignificant. The two countries, however, had taken few initiatives to boost trade and investment without any progress.

The initiatives included setting up a warehouse in Russia to sell Bangladeshi products, mainly readymade garments. There was also an initiative to establish banking relations for lack of which the two-way trade could not take place substantially.
