Girl raped in city
A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour at Nababerbagh under Shah Ali Bagh Police Station in the city on Tuesday evening.
Shafiqul Islam, 18, a food vendor at Botanical Garden area, lured the girl to his room saying that he would give her cookies at around 7:00pm.
The girl started screaming when Shafiqul raped her. Hearing her scream, the neighbours rushed to rescue her and took her to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC).

A case was filed against Shafiqul under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Gynaecology and Obstretics Consultant Dr Bilquis Begum, who is taking care of the child, said evidence of rape has been found.
