The nation is facing a grave crisis at this moment due to failures and corruption of the government, Badruddoza said at a discussion marking the second anniversary of Bikalpa Chhatra Dhara.

"To resist this failed government in the next election, we will have to form polling centre-based committees," he said.

The BDB chief demanded immediate elections of the students' unions at all educational institutions, saying that the tenure of the unions has expired long ago, but no steps have been taken to elect new committees.

The election to Dhaka University Central Students' Union could not be held in the last 17 years, he said and termed it a conspiracy to hinder the development of leadership and political thinking in the country.

At the programme, some leaders and activists of Biplobi Chhatra Maitri led by its general secretary Sheikh Faruk joined the Chhatra Dhara.

Presided over by Chhatra Dhara President Manowar Ali Rishu, the meeting was also addressed by Tarikat Federation President Syed Najibul Bashar Maijbhandari, Jatiya Oikya Mancha leader Abdur Rauf, Gono Forum leader Mostofa Mohsin Montu and Bikalpa Dhara leaders MA Halim, Firoz M Hasan, Nurul Amin Patwari, Mahi B Chowdhury MP, ATM Kamal and Moral Amzad Hossain.

Later, Chhatra Dhara took out a procession in the city to celebrate its founding anniversary.
