Govt, NGO collaboration underscored

FNB Dhaka division confce held
Dhaka Divisional Conference of the Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh (FNB) was held at the Planning and Development Academy in the city yesterday, says a press release.

Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Division Ms Mumtaz Ahmed, Director General of NGO Affairs Bureau CQK Mushtaq Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka District Md Abdul Bari were present as special guests.

FNB chair Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury presided.

The FNB National Executive Board members and over 200 delegates from various districts participated in the conference.

The speakers at the conference underscored the need for the government and NGO collaboration for proper implementation of poverty alleviation, health and education programmes and lauded the roles of NGOs in these sectors especially at the grassroots level.

FNB chair gave a brief account of various activities during the last three years. These include setting up of the NGO Foundation by the government for funding the small NGOs, postponement of the proposed NGO bill, inclusion of FNB in various national, district and upazila committees and training of the member NGOs for their capacity building.

Various problems facing the NGOs and their possible solutions were also discussed in the working session.
