'Govt to rebuild temple soon’

The leaders said Awami League (AL) government demolished Ramna Kali Mandir and Ma Anandamoyee Ashram at Suhrawardy Udyan in 1973.

After that Sheikh Hasina's government grabbed the site for constructing the Liberation War Monument, they added.

"Now as the government has decided to rebuild the temple at a very nearby place, those who kept mum during the AL's rule, are shouting for its real location," said Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, president of Ramna Kali Mandir and Ma Anandamoyee Ashram Committee, while talking to reporters at temple site.

State Minister for Water Resources Advocate Goutam Chakrabarti, former minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, member secretary of Ramna Kali Mandir and Ma Anandamoyee Ashram committee Nitai Chandra Ghosh and some clerics were present on the occasion.

Goyeshwar said the government has already taken up all initiatives to rebuild the temple very soon.

He said the opposition is spreading false news telling some foreign media that the government is trying to shift the temple from its original location, but the fact is that the present location is also a temporary as the original location was grabbed by the AL government.

The propaganda against the government is false and aimed to disrupt communal harmony, he added.
